At Mortensen Elementary School, every student receives personalized support to assist their individual needs, fostering growth and success for all students through collaborative efforts.
The Special Education Team at Mortensen Elementary is composed of various professionals, including General Education Learning Specialists, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Learning Specialists, a Speech Language Pathology Assistant, a Speech Language Pathologist, a School Psychologist, a social-emotional learning specialist, a registered nurse, a physical therapist, and an occupational therapist who serve multiple schools.
This collaborative team strives to assist students within the general education environment while respecting their Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). Mortensen is privileged to be one of several Jefferson County schools with a program for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
